I opposed Sir Mark on hare coursing. We appeared on tv together many times. It is a measure of the man that although we were poles apart on the issue I grew to respect the man as he is a true gentleman. My beloved Father and I called into Heath House whilst on a golfing holiday. My Dad was a keen racing enthusiast and Sir Mark took him on a tour of 52 stabled horses. On the drive home my Dad remarked to me that he would remember the tour “until the day I die”. He died of a heart attack one week later. I owe Sir Mark Prescott a debt I can never repay.

JohnF & JohnMc the best two racing presenters ever. John McCririck whose forthright opinions always seem to get someone excitable has sadly passed away and we are left with the bland presenters of today.
Two greats who greatly influenced my interest in racing. Fascinating dialogue.

@@charlesmckinley8747 Yes, so many changes to fences. The run offs are a good idea along side the fences on the edge of the course. The drops are modified. The firmness of the fences changed. No remounting. Minimum 40 runners. You ever seen the Velka Pardubica?
@@charlesmckinley8747 It's mostly geldings that go jumping. They are either pets, meat or sport horses. If a horses doesn't want to jump, it won't do it, and there is no point keeping a non goer in training. All possible negatives of racing have been addressed and readdressed, from the padding on hurdles down to the padding on whips. Vets are always on course, and racehorses are euthanized by injection nowadays if fatally injured on course. It's a safe as they can make it and still keep it the spectacle it is. @@charlesmckinley8747 Without racing there would be no TB breeding industry or horses in training. Everything that can be done for safety is done. These industries are massive employers, and not just in the UK. People have always raced horses in all cultures; long may it continue.

I remember John Francome saying to him. Shut up fatty. Live on air. Racehorse owners should be made legally responsible for their horses for life. J P McManus keeps his retired horses in 5 star luxury and pops into see them all everyday.
Coming from a little farm town in USA,you sir are very intelligent, I enjoy us,aus,uk and all horse racing really. I watch daily and get better at handicapping everyday and always enjoy watching your videos on breaks in the action. Keep doing your thing, thanks john
